Medical Services Plan coverage

As of January 1, 2020, WorkSafeBC no longer administers Medical Services Plan group coverage.

As of January 1, 2020, Medical Service Plan (MSP) premiums have been eliminated for residents of British Columbia. As such, WorkSafeBC will no longer report MSP premiums on your T4 as a taxable benefit; the MSP group administration will end at the same time.

MSP coverage continues to be mandatory for all BC residents. Health Insurance BC (HIBC) will automatically put you and any dependants on a self-administered MSP account.

It’s important to inform HIBC if your address has changed or if you are travelling outside of BC for more than six months.
