Medical Services Plan of BC

Learn about Medical Services Plan coverage for you, your spouse and/or eligible dependant(s).

The Medical Services Plan (MSP) covers the cost of medically required services provided by physicians and some health care practitioners.

If you are a BC resident, you, your spouse and your eligible dependants must be enrolled in MSP. There is no cost for MSP coverage for BC residents. If you live outside BC, you, your spouse and your eligible dependants must apply for medical coverage under the government plan in your province of residence.

Extended health care coverage does not replace provincial health care coverage. You must be enrolled in MSP or another provincial health plan in order to sign up for extended health care coverage through the WorkSafeBC Pension Plan.

To learn more about MSP and find out if you are enrolled, visit the Medical Services Plan page on the BC government website.
