Who you can name as a beneficiary

Learn who you can name as a beneficiary to receive your pension benefit when you die.

Name an organization as your beneficiary

You may want to name an organization, such as a society, charity, association or corporation, as a non-person beneficiary to receive your pension benefit when you die.

You must specify the organization's exact name (such as a specific chapter or branch) to ensure it receives your pension benefit.

It is very helpful if you can include the organization’s nine-digit Canada Revenue Agency registration number on the form. This will ensure timely payment to the correct organization.

If the organization is no longer operating at the date of your death, the portion of your pension benefit that you've allocated to the organization will be paid to your estate.
